It's good to talk

Talk to loved ones before you book, they may have been to the places you're going and can provide some really good advice to help set the scene for your holiday, from culture to gastronomy.

Connect with other Just You travellers on Facebook and the Forum - many folks may have already been there and done it, so they will be able to really bring your holiday to life - in ways in which a guidebook can't always do!

Really read your itinerary

Just You tours include a varying degree of free time. Once you receive your final documents, take some time to research what you might like to do during your time at leisure. And of course, speak to your Holiday Director who will be able to recommend some good places to visit based on your interests. And it sounds obvious, but take the time to read the itinerary carefully - so you can prep and pack your day bag and luggage properly.

For example, on some itineraries, upon landing in destination, you could be heading straight off to explore rather than heading straight to your hotel. So prep your bags to make sure you have things like sun protection, hat, bug repellent sunglasses and any other essentials you might need.

And especially on our classic tours, remember that some days involve long drives to get you to all the good stuff. Your Holiday Director will advise you day by day of what to expect, but worth packing your travel neck pillow, snacks, water and anything else you think you might need for the drive.

So just take some time to read the itinerary and plan what you might want to wear or bring with you for each day, and curate your packing list from that.

Consider purchasing an eSim to save on your travels

Check with your mobile phone provider to see if your holiday destination is covered under your plan.

If not, consider purchasing an esim before you travel which you can activate on arrival to keep in touch with loved ones and avoid any hefty phone bills when you get back home.

Travel in comfort

Coach journeys can involve stints of up to 2-3 hours on the road, with rest breaks. So plan for your comfort in mind, with your favourite drinks and snacks and a good book - while keeping an eye on the scenery too!

Or why not create your own playlist on Spotify to listen to, including some local music of your destinations perhaps to really get into the spirit of your encounters.

If you don't have WiFi, the coach ride is a great time to look through your holiday photos and delete any duplicates, ready to share with your group when you get to your next hotel.

And of course, it's a fabulous opportunity to talk to other Just You travellers too, so don't be afraid to strike up a conversation. You might be surprised by just how much you have in common.

Listen out as your Holiday Director will also be keeping you up to date with the world from your window, and any important information for the day ahead.

Planning how much money to take

We get asked this question a lot, and it's a really difficult question to answer as everyone is different in their spending habits. However it is possible to do a rough calculation of meals, and using a cost of living calculator online gives you some guidance of how much to budget. Remember breakfast is included every day as standard, so you won't need to budget for this.

If you wish to tip your drivers and guides, please refer to your final documentation for guidance.

There's an app for that

There are a wonderful array of free apps and websites that will allow you to really enhance your trip. Here's a few suggestions to get you started, and Google is always your friend of course!

Travel Adaptors: This easy reference guide takes the hassle out of figuring out which adaptors you need on your travels.

Currency Convertor Plus: A quick and easy to use convertor that allows you to update rates when you have wifi access, but works offline when you're out exploring.

WhatsApp: If you don't have this app on your phone right now, it's worth downloading before your trip. It will come in handy on your tour to keep in touch with the group on your holiday.

Your Holiday Director will set the group up and it allows you to share all your holiday photos with each other, and keep in touch long after you've touched down back home.

Google Translate: This app is perfect if you want to read things on the go, such as menus in a restaurant or a sign. Simply point the camera at the item, and you'll receive the translations right back in your language. It will even work with voice translations too so a great app to help you get by if you don't know the language.

DuoLingo: One of the leading language learning apps, if you are really keen on learning the lingo before you travel, it's worth downloading and starting as soon as you can so that you can be a pro in no time.
