Day 12 Rio de Janeiro
Brazil, the world's fifth largest country, is a land of warm sun, bright colours, irresistible rhythms and natural beauty. The city of Rio de Janeiro is beautifully situated beneath Sugarloaf Mountain and blessed with the magnificent beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. Corcovado, home to the famous statue of Christ, is the perfect introduction to the city and we include a visit here today. To reach the statue we'll ascend via a small cog railway, enjoying superb views over Rio. To view the city from the top of the mountain, join our optional excursion via cable car. Alternatively, explore Rio at your own pace this afternoon. This evening we'll gather as a group for a farewell dinner at a typical Brazilian Churrascaria. A churrascaria is a place where meat is cooked in churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese word for 'barbecue'. Experience the famous Brazilian barbecue and taste various types of meat including cuts of prime beef to even ostrich, lamb, and wild boar.
